Four little things

Four little things
Scripture:-
There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise: The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks; The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands; The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces. Proverbs 30:24-28

Observation:-
This Proverb speaks of 4 small animals that are very wise in the way God made them. The first is the ant Although small and tiny, they are one of the most hardworking of all creatures, always on the move, they prepare food in advance for the winter and are not lacking when the days are cold.

The second is the coney or rock badger. They make their homes in the rocks, where they are safe from predators. The third is the locust that always travel in great company and the mightiest of beasts fear them in their vast number. The fourth is the spider, that never gives up, and even makes its home in the palaces of kings.

Application:-
From the ant, we learn that we should be hardworking, and prepare for the future. This does not mean we should hoard treasure for our own pleasure. It is right to work hard to provide for our family’s future but we should also give freely to God and those in need while also saving for the latter days. Spiritually, we must be hardworking in spending time with God and building our relationship with Him to serve Him and we will surely be rewarded with eternal treasures.

From the coney, we learn that we should make our home in a safe place. Literally, it is wise of us to take precaution to ensure the safety of our homes. Spiritually, we place our trust in the Rock, our Lord Jesus Christ, who cannot be shaken, and in Him we seek our refuge rather than in our own selves or other people.

From the locust, we learn the importance of community, of not going it alone but learning to give and receive. In God’s family, that is especially important, for us to get involved with fellow brothers and sisters in fellowship.

From the spider, we learn to never give up. There is always the image of the spider who struggles to make a web against a strong wind but keeps trying again and again until she succeeds. The spider is also comfortable wherever she goes, whether in the palaces of kings or the home of a beggar. She is true to herself, spinning her own webs. The lesson for us is to be true to our character in Jesus Christ Whether we become poor or rich, ordinary or famous, we would always focus on doing the right thing.
Prayer: Lord, help me be hardworking like the ant in seeking to know You, wise like the coney in seeking You as my Rock and Refuge, smart like to locust in realizing the important of the family of God, and clever like the spider, and stay true to what is right regardless of how life goes. In Jesus name, Amen.
