Dreaming God’s dreams

Dreaming God’s dreams

On Sunday, the speaker at FGA was Pastor Carl Butler from Australia, who gave a passionate sermon on the greatness of God and how nothing is impossible for Him.

Starting with the planet earth herself, 12,756km in diameter, Pastor Carl exclaimed how it was not really that big - taking only 24 hours to fly from one side to the other. He moved on to describe the greatness of the sun, only 149.6 million km away, and then pointed out that our sun was only one of over 300 billion stars in the milky way, which is only one out of countless other galaxies.

Job 26:7,13-14

7 He spreads out the northern skies over empty space;
       he suspends the earth over nothing.
13 By his breath the skies became fair;
       his hand pierced the gliding serpent.

 14 And these are but the outer fringe of his works;
       how faint the whisper we hear of him!
       Who then can understand the thunder of his power?"

Considering that all these are just the minor things of God’s work, who can fathom His true power and greatness?
37For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37
For the great and mighty God who made the universe, surely nothing can be impossible for Him. In the Lord Jesus’ life on the earth, He consistently showed how God can provide much more than we need. At the feeding of the 5000, there were 12 baskets leftover, at the wedding in Cana, Jesus left 600 litres of premium wine.

The temperature on earth at 40 degrees Celcius would be considered hot, and 50 degrees extreme – but on the surface of the sun, it is 5,500 degrees, and its corona is 2 million degrees. Mount Everest seems like the pinnacle of every human conquest, but on the planet Mars, there is a mountain three times higher!

Dare to ask God for big things. Our parents on earth have limited supply, but our Father in heaven has unlimited power and grace. Ask and you shall receive.

Sometimes, however, our prayers are not answered-this does not mean that God does not love us or He can’t do it. It is because He knows better! As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts. Essentially, God is saying Find out what I know, then ask of Me”  We must ask and pray according to God’s will. The prayer of Jabez is an excellent way to pray “Oh, that you would bless me indeed, O God!” We must align our thinking with God’s thinking, our dreams with His dreams. Let us dare to imagine big things.

So many people tend to be pessimistic, but the Word asks us to think about what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable! During the Great Depression, a simple man, Yates was badly hit and was on the brink of losing his land. However, suddenly specialists found out that on his land had one of the richest deposits of oil in the U.S. and overnight, he became a multi-millionaire. He always had it but lived in poverty because he did not know!

The vision of the fastest growing church in the world (now 100,000 strong), which is in Colombia is to win the nation for Jesus. Are we aligning our thinking with God’s Word or our circumstances? Do we dream? Let us spend time with God, and dream His dreams!

God bless,

Jason
